The Results Are In

Howdy, pardner!...I watched soooo much football yesterday....bits and pieces of a gaggle of games...and the RESULTS are in...I like the college gridiron...the atmosphere...the fans...the stadiums...the traditions...the pace of play....the list goes on...

Here are my takeaways from yesterday's action...

Beavers lost HUGE to the Buckeyes...gave up 77 points...however, I saw loads of improvement offensively...throw out the score, there is a positive step...Ohio St?...really really good...they might have beat ANYONE in the Nation yesterday...

Cincinnati beat Chip's UCLA in LaLa Land...it will take time...but, if you can believe this...the Bruins are woefully thin at many spots...and the DC made a horrific mistake of too many players on the field in a CRITICAL sit...

The Dawgs lost to Auburn...now, most pundits have UW winning the Pac 12...just don't think they have the QB for that...so, I disagree...BTW, Auburn is a very fine team...to be watched...

West Virginny beat Tennessee...2 very average teams...well, WV is...and the Volunteers have another rough year ahead of themselves...

'Bama rolled...smashed the once proud Louisville...OK, let's just say that the Crimson Tide has reloaded...and with Ohio St, the odds on favs for the year...

Oregon Ducks beat Bowling Green...a miserable first Q for the new regime...looked like their ace QB was too pumped up, and missed some targets...he settled in and threw 5 td's...BUT...the D was average at best...hmmm, the wideouts were better than I was hearing...

Penn St beat App St in OT...what?...Appalachian St again?...don't schedule them for your soft part of your schedule, dudes...should coulda mighta stole that one...

Notre Dame beat Michigan...first of all, there is no bigger a-hole in collegiate FB than the Irish's HC Kelly...none...hands down the worst...a great example, was when the camera had him...all him, screaming F-You to the ref...on the other hand, the Wolverines appear to be playing 1960's era of football...listen, they are the most boring team in the land to watch...number 1...

Finally, BYU beat 'Zona...geez, how old are some of them Mormons, anyway?...like 28 or so...wait, they don't want to be called that anymore...Latter Day somethings?...certainly, not Cougars...that's for the elder ladies...hmmm, I am confused...

OK then...

The highlight of the Padre game last eve was NOT the action on the field...ah ha, lost a 4-2 heartbreaker...where Hunter Renfroe hit 2 dingers for the only SD runs...but, for the announced giveaway...a fun in the sun 'SD' labeled straw hat...which turned out to be infested with bugs...ewwww....the ushers were scurrying about picking up the ones that were given out too soon...wonder where they were made?...I have my ideas...

Staying in beisbol...there is this scoundrel of an umpire in the Bigs...most know him as Country Joe West...in his mind, bigger than life and the game he patrols...hmmm, on the same lines of the Notre Dame HC...I digress...anyway, he was at it last night...again...saw that the pitcher from Philly was pulling out a cheat sheet to read...before pitching to a player...Joe deemed it 'foreign substance' and ejected the dude...what?...Country Joe has responded 'my hands are tied to the rules of the game'...as he sees 'em...ha ha...get him outta there...

CMA's...the award thang...Country Music Association...saw an article that tried to defend the names of the nominees for the awards...bad grammar...defending their process of nominations...there, that is better...fuggit about it...it's all tied into what record company, CD company, or label the artists are owned, er employed by...it's a racket, kids...booo...an example...Blake Shelton was up for 5 straight years...decided to put his music out on his OWN label...and voila! he has NO NOMINATIONS this year...

And...how could anyone but someone named Donny...do a Tweet to counter what a grieving daughter would say, after her just father passed away...has he NO SHAME?!...nope, none...
