We just got back from a great weekend getaway to Palm Springs...geez, 90*...pool was splendid...and we were happy sun worshippers...it was crowded...Coachella...festival out of Indio...stayed at a place that was older, but just blocks away from down town Palm Springs...which I just lurve...lots of life...
As we were walking about we noticed a show that was going on....the Follies....featured none other
than "It's My Party" Lesley Gore....what?...singer that is my age...and... I think she now resides in that area...so we thought just maybe we might go...
Hit the pool and got all we wanted...called the Follie tix department and found out that some seats were available...so off we went...let's just say I was shocked...not sure if it was good or bad...the opening number had the feel of a Vegas show...however, the dancing was well meant, but not totally in sync...
Turns out the youngest member of the troupe was in their mid 50's....and the rest were quite older...so, knowing the gig, it made it OK....and the owner and moderator was a comic...of sorts...who spent his time making fun of the people in the audience...fortunately we were not in the front row...as I have been the butt of these types of goons before...
He did tell all about the early Palm Springs history...and gave me an interesting stat....that the city is 55% gay...and like 90% old peops...and then....
Lesley Gore came out...literally...figures in the mix, if you know what I mean...sang her hits pretty well...her famous Party and the best of the nite, "You Don't Own Me"...and then peddled her wares afterward at the entry and exit of the theater...just an odd nite...
Got back in time today to witness the Master's conclusion...as Aussie Scott barely beat the Argentinian ...cool stuff...where were the Americans?...Tiger was 5th...the rest of the USA blokes choked it up good...or badly...and Lefty was dreadful...
And the Pads continue to lose...swept at home to the Rockies...it is pathetic, kids...2-10 record...yikes!...now head to LA to be further humiliated...by the hated Dodgers...who are fresh in their despair for our LF body blocker...fortunately he is on an 8 game suspension...this is a mess...MESS!...and I don't know the solution...not firing Buddy...this could be the worst team in the history of MLB...I'm not kidding...
