OK, calm down non-believers...this is my early Cactus League look at our beloved Padres of San Diego...as we have promise...sure, it's just the spring leagues...BUT...we could be bad, now...and we are not...the guys who have to show they belong...
C Nick Hundley...who I think has the biggest target on his back...has been strong...new batting stance...and will have the spot until Grandal gets back after 50 games...
1B, OF Kyle Blanks...big guy...has spent most of his time here on the injury list...and is striking the ball big time...we've been here before, as the curve was his downfall...so far, so good...
2B Jed Gyorko...pronounced Jerk-O...really...started with a bang, 3 dingers in 5 games...when I have seen him play, I am not blown away...his glove is smooth...the jury out...
Pitchers...well...the guys are OK...nobody standing out...that's the mantra...the new kid, Ross, throws it 96...have to give him a long gander...still waiting on Cashner...
You do know that we play the hated Dodgers 19 times...what?...5 series?...and yesterday, our nemesis, Kershaw, got ripped by the boyz...it was way fun...
Grade...B+

Oh, it was great TV to watch the Lake Show get bombed by the Thunder (Supersonics)...and, of course, it was a national broadcast...let's follow the 9th placed team...let's grade the NBA pretenders...'er contenders...
Miami Heat...LeBron in a league of his own...despite no inside presence...A-
New York Knicks...Melo is a strength and a weakness...and their PG is turrible...C
Indiana Pacers...the last possible chance in the East...quick, name one of their guys...C+
San Antonio Spurs...the ultimate team team...yup...but their PG is out...A-
OKC Thunder...the best scoring duo in the league...will win the west...A-
LA Clippers...exciting group...very average in the 1/2 court...B
Denver Nuggets...the funnest of all...run at every chance...B+...
There you go...these are the only ones that have a chance at the title...take that Chuck, this is better than anything you got...
