Rose Bowl

With the easy win over the Beavers, the Ducks set their sight on the Pac-12 Champ game...1st time it has been used....why?  Well... the Trojans are being penalized this year, so the next team in line in the south gets the game...the woeful Bruins are in...who just got run over by USC yesterday...and with a win, it appears that the Rose Bowl is the destination of the Duckees...with any good fortune, the Wisconsin Badgers are the opponents...kind of have to wait for the BSBCS to do it's thing...boo...

83* in Sycuan yesterday...no wind and it was sublime...it seems like most of the blokes there have their own allegiances...USC is the dominant one...nobody is a Bruin....oh, by the way, I crafted out an 86...took the Ping irons out of the storage area and they are a step up from what I was using...yeh...

Wow!  What a win for the UNLV hoops...knocking off North Carolina...as the Rebs are going uptempo...it seemed like the Tar Heels were not ready for them...regardless, it was great fun to watch...and, if you are in Vegas, it will be a tough ticket to get...really...

GOP...it is Newt coming through...I keep telling you the repubs won't elect Mitt...and...I watched the latest debate all the way...and I think they are bright and intelligent peops...well, all but one female... and he got the New Hampshire nod...

The NBA...it is a done deal...and the revenue share is about 50-50...roughly...and the group must realize the money is barely there...of course, the players and owners have yet endorsed the 10 year compromise...ten years!  In this economy?...what's wrong with this pix?....boo...

What a week for the stock market...it was a huge downer and I still have no clue why...is it dependent on Europe?...the bloody Euro is floundering, thus the dollar should, too?  boo...

Are you excited?  The marvelous and highly spiritually Timmy Tebow led Broncos invade the Q against the Bolts for a must win for both teams...with the Denver's most boooring O in the history of the NFL and the ineptly coached Chargers, it is an absolutely must miss game...we will get out to the beach and forego any chance of turning on the game...boo...

The Pick Six was hit for a mere $49,500 at Hollywood Park...just figured you need some motivation to get out to the ponies...

And just when you couldn't get more excited for the upcoming bowl season...the Poinsettia Bowl (held here) just got their first combatant...Louisiana Tech...yup, it's true...where do I get the tix?...what is their mascot, anyway...


The Odd Board...you do know the line on the Duck/Beaver game was 27 1/2, right?...with their starters resting the entire 4th Q, the Duckees held on to win the wager...by a half of a point...what?...odd and weird, huh...

Maybe a bike ride...so many choices....

"Ward, don't you think you were a little rough on the Beav?" Re. your text yesterday about Riley, I have to agree that OSU is a disaster. Lots of problems here. 1. is no athletes. Their recent recruiting has fallen way off. The offensive line is terrible. No LB's and really the whole def. is bad. No. 2 is Money. Reser did a good job of donating but not enough to keep up with Phil. No. 3 is probably coaching. Ther isn't a more personable and genuine guy than Riley. That isn't winning games. The Beaver faithful doesn't seem motivated to fire him. Its like they would rather blame the Ducks than look within.Most Beavs I know absolutely hate the Ducks but the Ducks are just dismissive of the Beavs. This goes as far back as I can remember.
I think this Duck team has problems too. They should beat UCLA but I'm not sure about the Rose Bowl. We still have some huge weaknesses. Oh the weather at the game yesterday was great!

Do NOT DEFEND the Beav...it is a mess...according to the peops around here, much like how he left the Bolts...in shambles...a new direction is needed in Corvallis...
By the way, the Ducks did a great job after destroying their season in Dallas...USC beat up Oregon and showed they really are a force for next season...
The Pac 12 alignment is a joke...what latitude are they using?

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
