Inside the Control Center
Before anything gets published...aired...written...put out to the public...there is a war room of sorts...ah, a bit too dramatic, don't you think?...it's a meeting of the minds...the Control Center...the base of the newspapers...for youse who don't even know what that is, it is the daily news on paper...in the TV world, it is the brains before the 'Ted Baxters' get hold of it, and tell it to the cameras...often reading from a teleprompter...much like Bozo does, I digress...nowadays, I fear there is less and less of this going on...the meetings prior...
This vast infinite space on the web net...where blokes, and ladies, too...just like me...give their thoughts to the world, awaiting...in my case, I derive info from what I read and see...you get a compilation of thoughts, already in the news...then, I take my slant and there you go...the Horse News...I hear from so many younger people now...they do not read a newspaper...they don't even watch the tele news...then...where on earth do they get their facts, figures, and data?...how can you even have an opinion?...based on what?...ah ha, from talking with others...must be...don't even say that you listen to what's on the radio, other than music...
It's time we change all that...become aware of what really is going on...revive the newspaper...the word written...watch the news on the tele...take time to READ...this mentality of skimming and blaming the sources for ill deeds...read, write, listen, and watch...make up your OWN mind as to what is going on...all of us...do it...facts, you need facts...
Silly me, so many of you already know all about the Control Center...it is on your cell phone...think about it...it is similar to what I have talked about...
We have started a new series, based on a book, called 'Manhunt'...Apple +...the story of what happened during and after the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln...it is fascinating to see the limited security he had, just 5 days after General Lee signed the surrender of the South...waiving a white dish towel in lieu of a flag...you want your history, well, kids, this is one place to start...
The ladies get after it tonight...and the Horse will be watching...South Carolina will take on NC State...doubt if this is that close...then, the Iowa vs UConn main event...well, to moi...circa 6:30 pm...played in Cleveland, Ohio...it's a treat to see such fine hoopsters play at this outstanding level...
The Friars are in San Francisco...game time weather?...52*...wind gusting at 21 mph...really?...seems too much...
And then this...it is an event to go to a Bum game...well, OK, a LA Dodger game...of course, for any MLB game, to get a batted baseball is a groovy souvenir...once in a lifetime?...so, this couple went to the Bum game...sat in the OF, like they always do...and lo and behold, the new star of the team, Shohei Ohtani, hit his first home run as a Dodger...right to them, and the gal got it!...not only a ball, but THE one that Ohtani hit...elated and on the jumbo screen!...and then...things turned...Dodger security took her into a hallway...wanted the ball, and were offering things in return...souvenirs...Shohei wanted THAT ball...they threatened if she turned it down, they would NOT authenticate it...in our crazy world of sport...that ball would probably be worth over $500 grand...really...basically, she had no choice...surrendered the ball to the security...and left the park with a very sour attitude...this from LA Time's columnist, Bill Plaschke...hate the Bums...
For youse San Diegans...just west of the Del Mar Race Track...there is this opening to go and see...and walk on the beach...in the town called Solana Beach...turns out there is more to this story...originally, the town had no access to the ocean...and this fellow, Ed Fletcher, wanted a walkway to the beach...so he used hydraulic water pressure to break up the hard pack, and create a notch in the bluffs...then, a dude spent 3 months to use a fire hose, and watered it down...and make the path way...in 1924, it was done...celebrated...and the highlight?...horse races on the beach...the idea for the race track?...I dunno...
Finally, we have the MLB doing their city connect uni's...the Padres have just a horrendous one...sorry, but it's the truth...well, I just saw the Philadelphia Phillies one...and it is rad...boss...cool...far out...
