Boxing Day

Good morning!...how was your Christmas?...well, now, for all of my born days and since...I have never ever heard this...the thang called 'Boxing Day'...the day after Christmas...just happened on it, reading this am...say what?...of course, tickled me interest...and here is the scoop...

It is also called 'Offering Day'...a day of goodwill...to give to those who are needy...the origination is unclear but did start in the British Commonwealth...Great Britain...hmmm...wonder how trump would handle a day like this?...

Hype and then...the goods...and the bads...Beyonce's halftime show...almost 13 minutes of highly choreographed dancing, singing, and whatever...it was quite the production...did catch ones eyes...but, the underlying concept...was to overshadow a very weak singing voice that she has...this was on the break of the NFL game of the Ravens/Texans...which was ONLY carried on Netflix...go figure...the regular networks were carrying some NBA games...JCC...didn't watch a minute of them...all in all, the Horse gives her energy an A, but the singing a D...I am but one person, you may have felt diff from me...

I was wondering...about that passenger plane going down...and read that one of our Congressionals let out that it was shot down...by Russia...weird, as it was hundreds of miles off course...follow the news on this, as more will be released...

A sign of things to come?...Prez B pardons 37 people from execution...and Prez-elect trump tells the 37 to 'go to Hell!'...

180* here...opened up the Little Big Town Christmas vinyl...and played it on Christmas Day...it is simply marvelous!...their harmony is splendid...why I didn't open it sooner, I dunno...one cut, should be a classic...like forever...listen to the album, and see if we agree on which one...

Good morning to you all...as we wish all of you out there in the free world, a most wonderful Christmas Day...however you choose to honor and cherish this occasion...the anticipatory actions of us all, quite often is better than the real thing...but, that's OK...just thankful that our family is doing well...and hope yours is, too...

The sports slate is filled with the NBA...5 games I think...and in the NCAA, 3 games, ie Oreg St at Nebraska...the NFL, there are two, via Netflix (?)...Chiefs at Steelers...and Ravens at Texans...so there you go, you sports junkies...you have your fill...

If you have children, and or grand children...the wake up time is mighty hard for them...was for me, back when...ah, some 70 years ago...lawdy, that just doesn't sound right...

Query...does trump ever eat a meal in his own compound, cooked by Melania?...or, does he always have to go to the circled off area at Mara-lago, to dine...and one more thing...every time I see him sit at the food trough, he has his laptop right in front of him...how does that make Melania feel?...silly me, surely he has a cook...and not her...

Just an awful site to wake up to....ah, not talking orange...but could be...but, the passenger plane going down on Xmas eve in Kazakhstan...and get this, 32 SURVIVED!...what I didn't know about that country...it is the 9th largest in area in the world...honestly, I thought it was the base for the Borat flick...just south of Russia...

Costco eggs are in harm's way...not on the west coast, but back east...could cause major damage to the body...the bloody bird flu, apparently...

'How Great Thou Art'...the live version of Carrie Underwood and Vince Gil...was the most haunting and beautiful rendition of it I have ever heard...if you are not before, you may turn into religion...which I try not to talk about...but, I do believe...listen to this song, and tell me otherwise...I honestly get tears in me eyes...

Not Christmas...but you must see the vid of Brooks and Dunn...'Believe'...and if this does not knock your socks of...you must not be wearing any...a tear jerker...and just plain beautiful...

Any Christmas song by Amy Grant...her voice epitomizes the sounds of the season...hey, we see her in concert in a few months out at El Cajon...

'Baby It's Cold Outside'...is a duets dream Xmas song...so many great renditions...but, start with Dean Martin and Marilyn Maxwell...Lady A did a wonderful one...geez, for a kick, go to Wikipedia and look at all the duets that covered the song...

I have the brand spanking new Little Big Town Christmas vinyl...and will unseal it today...love them...been waiting for this day to do so...

That name...is it used in this generation?...Darling...the blog title is in reference to the Beatles song 'Oh! Darling'...but dig it, you don't hear it much used any more...I bring this to your attention...as whence I have watched countless hours of the CFP games, mixed in with the KC Chiefs fixed ones...ha ha...I ramble into the boudoir, where Boss is...and I hear the 'darling' used in...her countless hours of watching the old time flicks...you see, we watch in other rooms...my sports, her movies...it works...anyhoo, when I hear 'darling' I know right away that she is watching films from the 40's or so...

Now, I have heard 'darlin'...'Hello Darlin'...Conway Twitty...' Darlin'...The Beach Boys...and have noticed the way the southern lads use it as they talk to their woman...but NOT darling...'Li'l Darlin' by the Diamonds...and the reason for the name given to our Pomeranian...

Just like ALL of the playoff games yesterday and well, the Friday one, too...nonsensical...blow outs...as the 4 home team dudes, ripped the visitors...easily...most embarrassing...the worst?...ha ha...had to be the Volunteers...Tennessee...how do they get to keep that Rebel thang anyhow?...sidelight...and wooah to the next season for the ACC...SMU and Clemson were turrible...makes me wonder if they go straight to the goofy bowl games...and ALL of the 12 playoff spots go to the Big 18 and the SEC...you know that the crack committee will be thinking that way...

We must talk about the KC Chiefs...so many pundits and non-loving fans of KC...accuse the refs of favoring the Chiefs...which makes the Horse giggle...refs swaying a contest?...how could that be?...well, in yesterday's game...I'd say YES...they did...almost to the point of absurdity...dang it, Taylor, see what you have caused?...

Just finished season one of 'Black Doves'...Netflix...it is so farcical, that we just kept going with it...I think it had 8 episodes...and I will say this...she is a bad mom...a very bad mom...and if YOU can make sense of it all, you are a smarter person than I...yet, we kept watching...

What are you planning for 'Festivus?'...it's for the rest of us, and I have been lifting weights in prep...

Horse Sense

The weekend has cometh...filled with games galore, if you are a football junkie...especially the CFP 1st round...home team heaven, er haven...depending on how one looks at it...

The opening act was last eve in South Bend, Indiana...where the Horse backed Notre Dame thoroughly dominated the way too highly ranked Indiana Hoosiers...much to the chagrin....make that anger of the 'Bama, Miami, and Mississippi folk...who were left out of the T...for the Hoosiers...I have wondered why the PTI guys have bad mouthed that Indy coach so much...the guy who WON the Coach of the Year Award...Curt Cignetti...I get it now, after listening to him ramble on in Game Day...he is a jerk...oh well, this team reminds me of last season's FSU...over ranked big time...back to the Irish...they are the real deal...the problem is...they don't play in a league, which makes them a true wild card...

Todays' games are better...matches...of course I am most interested in the Tennessee/Ohio St match up...as the HC of the Buckeyes is on the proverbial 'hot seat'...win or you be gone thang...anyhoo, the winner plays Oregon in the Rose Bowl...thus, my interest...the others...Clemson vs Texas...and SMU vs Penn St...really, JCC...

Now, just Horse sense...what makes me thinketh today....

As we all get set in our very own situation....whether it be positive or negative...in this Holiday Season...regardless of your religion, or not...whatever floats your boat...in the sensitivity of giving...or praying...or whatever you do...perhaps, just enjoying the festivities of it all...sometimes, one needs to take a look at others...what they are going through....

One such thing...the plight of 2 of our very own astronauts...yup, the USA's...and these cats are STUCK in space...there have been efforts to bring them back to earth...but, the dangerous liaison just didn't plan out...and there they are...floating about...like way up there in the sky...think YOU have problems?...the two are Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore...it's going to be Christmas in space for these two...as, the earliest that they can safely be returned is March or April...egads...10 months?...which was supposed to be a routine few days...

Got news for you, Suni and Butch, we will have a new regime in place whence you return....

The past century has been ladened with dynamic duos...some which are comedians...the blog title of Abbott and Costello...Rowan and Martin...Martin and Lewis...George and Gracie...Laurel and Hardy...Cheech and Chong...some have been singing pairs...Brooks and Dunn...Hall and Oates...Phil and Don...Captain and Tennille...Simon and  Garfunkel...Sonny and Cher...Seals and Crofts...to name but a few...and now, in the political arena...we have trump and Musk...or, is that Musk and trump?...

The latter have been gaining so much prominence that they are altering what's to be in the next 4 years...seems to be a collaboration...listen to me, kids...it's not trump and Vance...thus, we have found the secret influencer...well, not so secret anymore...not really certain of what Musk has in it for himself....the want and need for power in the political arena?...I mean, look where orange came from...when Senator from Utah, Mitt Romney said that the next in line for the republicans is Vance...he may be off kilter...it very well could be Musk...as the Horse looks into his Mighty Carnac crystal ball...

Is it just me, or the team that pulls off the trick play in football...successfully, ends up winning the game?...Navy did it last week, and Vegas did it last nite...OK, right, you doubters...small sample size, but what the heck?...both on fake punts...when the almighty coaches talk about winning all 3 phases of the game...the 3rd phase, the special team one...may be the diff...

The NBA is working on altering their all star game...JCC...and they also are 'concerned' about too many 3 balls being launched by the teams in the regular season...thus, the fan numbers are down...I have told you all before...the Horse has the solution...no 3 pointers until the last 2 minutes of each half...done...back comes the pattern flow of the game...

Talk about strange...we have dense fog here in the hood...which altered the gala Xmas Party at the Home...it was chilster...'heavy hors d'oeuvres' did not do it for moi...and after all the prep time we took to ready for the extravaganza...we were there in attendance for a whopping 25 minutes...the Horse needs a sit down dinner for such an occasion...I grade it a 'D'...BTW, 100 people crammed into a small room, no bueno...

Broncos at the Chargers tonight...each team has a former Duck, as their QB...Nix vs Herbert...what you think?...still too bad, the Chargers are not in San Diego anymore...would make it that much better...LA has yet to endorse them...like a team that always plays on the road...

I am thinking about going cold turkey....I mean, having a cold turkey sandwich for lunch...

The Ambassador

Just thought you ought to know...good morning, kids...it is Wednesday the 18th of December, 2024...just a week away from Christmas, and 5 days til Festivus...like for the rest of us...so, we awakened to yet another appointment to a foreign embassy...as trump has continued his change in leadership around the world...doesn't that seem funny?...no, funny is not the word...it is more of a religious proliferation...like in the 1800's, where the Catholics, Protestants, and soon after, the Mormons...spread the good word out...this time it is Maga morose...

Herschel Walker is the latest Ambassador...to the Bahamas...interesting...as he (trump) is honoring those who stuck by him...by giving them jobs for their loyalty...the list is growing...of course, it got me thinking....what really is this position and what do they do?...a time for teaching, assuming, like me...I didn't know much about it...other than, when attacked, the embassy destroys all files, and gets outta dodge...from flicks, I got this...

The Embassy...we, the USA, have 173 of them...in capital cities all around the world...many of the more combative countries, we even have compounds...the leader of each is the Ambassador...which is the person named by the present, or in this case, the Prez-elect, serves in that spot...which gets me to the very great series on Netflix, the Diplomat...what is the deal?...well, the Ambassador is one step above the Diplomat...you know, chain of command...

Their function?...to help with the USA citizens in these foreign countries...and to bridge a gap between the country and our leadership, when needed...that is the written part...it just has to be a safe haven for our multitude of spies...why then, all the shredding?...right...who protects the Embassy?...here we go, in some cases...Marines...well, in ALL cases that there is a need...judging by what I see, it's got be in EVERY Embassy...especially now...hint hint...

Blood, Sweat, and Tears

No, it's not a follow up to yesterday's blog...these are NOT the 3 newest names that the parents are giving their newborns...it's about a documentary we saw last eve...about the rock group, 'Blood, Sweat, and Tears'...it was simply a tale of being awestruck...a manipulation of this 9 man band, by the then, US State Department...the Prez at the time?...oh my, Richard Nixon...a bloke who hated rock and roll...

This is set in the late 60's...right, we were in a massive turmoil here in the states...the uproar of the Vietnam War...imagine the song by them 'And When I Die', that had to be played by the soldiers as they fought for...well, whatever the reasoning was...or, when on the plane about to land in Vietnam...

Here's the gig...the state department, had the group go BEHIND the iron curtain...as a good will gesture...back then, the Kruschev led Russians were the enemy of the US...we (?) were trying to bridge the gap...BSW, went into Yugoslavia, Romania, and Poland...to do their thang...with extreme conditions...some performances were well received, not so much in Yugoslavia...you must see the vid, for yourself...

Here's the tragedy...when they came back to the states...they were shunned, stoned, and unappreciated by the kids...the fans...why?...the inference was they were working for the man...working for the regime that was fostering the killing in Vietnam...AND, they never recovered....not sure if you heard of Abbe Hoffman...but he labeled the group Blood, Sweat, and Bullshit...

To be fair, the band was simply awesome...the lead singer, David Clayton Thomas (a Canadian), was a powerful one....the hits were legendary, 'You Made Me So Very Happy', 'Spinning Wheel', Hi-De-Ho'...and the aforementioned 'And When I Die'...I believe this vid is on Prime...it's an Xmas must see...

'Blood Rare'...what?...'make my steak, blood rare'...or, as John Wayne said in one cowboy flick 'burn it'...well, this has nothing to do with the piece...a wonderful article in the SJ, written by Capi Lynn...about a groundbreaking instrumental rock group of my old high school...back in 1960...or thereabouts...alas, before moi...'The Mad Plaids'...all were alumni of North Salem High...and their ONE HIT, still is paying off...'Blood Rare'...very interesting read...lurve nostalgia...

Do NOT love the news out of Wisconsin...where yet another school shooting...Madison...so tired and upset about this...where and when are we ever safe?...this time the killer was a 15 year old girl...hand gun...gun...gun...gun...furthermore, a 2nd grader was the one that called in to 911...bizarre world we live in...

Not sure why...but I am having trouble getting into the Xmas spirit this year...I love all things about it...the lights, the aura, the music...but, it's not grabbing me YET...something has to jump up and do so...something...

I just read that the NY Judge is NOT throwing out the hush money conviction of trump...well, now, this is going to be a very sticky wicket, isn't it?...put a desk in his jail cell?...

Alrighty then...the CFP are set to start FRIDAY...finally...all home teams are favored by at least a TD...this is the 1st season of having 12 teams in it...yup, curious about Tennessee at Ohio St...who we play the winner...Dude says the Buckeyes big...perhaps, but I think it's a big test for the SEC and Big 18...who indeed is more powerful...

The bowl crap...Army was to play Marshall...egads, the Marshall coach bolted, and so did 25 of the players...they got no team...so, another school was named to take their place...many players are opting out of their bowl games...either to 'save' themselves for the NFL, or are in the bloody transfer portal...what a mess...

Faith, Hope, and Charity

Another of the Horse's sarcastic views on the upcoming regime?...'Faith, Hope, and Charity'...well, one could apply this to that, for certain...not so sure about the Faith part, when you talk about orange...hmmm, he does have his very own Bible...well, to sell...but NO...this is all about the wave of the future in another way...a more positive one...these are the TRENDING names that this generation is using when they name their newborns...thinking back, I can recall a few....Faith Hill...Hope Lange...not so sure if they are the real ones, or the names given to help become famous...

The drones...eerily inhabiting the east coast skies...more and more politicians are saying this...'who, what, and why?'...as the Philly Mayor said 'something is going on'...well, duh...you KNOW what will happen next...some bloke will start shooting at 'em...you know, every once in a while, we will see one roaming about the many skyscrapers here in the Hood...why?...I dunno...

The NFL is closing in on the end of the regular season...who's in and who's out for da playoffs?...ah, but me FF team...is rising up to the top of the league...Coach Pyle has been adjusting his (our) lineup masterfully...the Bills, just may be the best of all...finishing strong...whupped the Detroit lovin Lions...who does have a very goof ball HC...but.it's football, and most of 'em are...just a mention here...but the way some of the HC are getting treated...they should be wearing helmets, too...by subordinates, players, and fans...to be sure, if an assistant coach talked to me like the Philly guy did...he would get the boot, ASAP!...

I lurve golf...hardest game in the world...but, to watch the past weekends tourney, was a slow death...too dramatic, Horse...but, it was impossible to watch...slow, boring, and a waste of telly time...HIT THE BALL!...
